Q. My brother opened an e-mail from "UPS" and now has a virus. I checked Google and found quite a few websites with information. There are several free virus removals listed. Are these safe to use?

CPU: INTEL PENTIUM 4
Installed RAM: 2.5GB
OS: XP HOME, SP 2
Disk Drives: 3.5" AND DVD-ROM

A.My brother did not receive my e-mail regarding the website. Apparently he was unable to even use some programs so he took it to a local computer shop. They had to erase his entire hard drive and start from scratch. $190.00 later it is working fine! He learned a lesson. We all know not to open unfamilar e-mails with attachments, but sometimes we "forget".

A.Generally speaking, no, they are not safe. Use the Programs and links suggested on this board to be safe.
