Q. Do you have to purchase a seperate license to put Vista 7 on a second home computer? If so, what is the license cost for a second computer? I have looked all over the Microsoft web site and can't find an answer to this.

A.At one time, they were offering 3 licenses for 149.00 or thereabouts...for one household. Don't know if that's still available.

A.Forgot to say: Click on the link and hover over the words: "Participating retailers" to see a list of stores.

A.I think you mean Windows 7. There isn't a Vista 7.

How did you get or have you gotten a Windows 7 computer?

If not, some stores like Office Depot are offering a Windows 7 Upgrade disk at half-price if you buy a new computer with Windows 7.

A.To your second question:
The price will vary between versions (ie. Home Premium, Business, Ultimate) anywhere from $100 to close to $300).

A.Yes, in most cases. If your Vista license is OEM (that is, if it came preinstalled when you bought the computer) you cannot transfer that copy or install a second copy on another computer.
If you purchased a special retail version of Vista (like Win7's family pack offer) you can install Vista on as many as three PCs.
