Subject:  PC doesn't boot up when I push the start button

My HP 734n PC has just started not powering up when I push the start button. It doesn't do it every time but when it does I have to hold the button in to turn it off,then push the button again to start it. Today I had to do this 4 times. Yesterday it started up on the 1st try.Not sure how old my PC is but at least 5 years I'd say.
Any ideas?

A.	Is it OK if I just leave the computer on all the time?

A.	Could this be a power supply issue or a board going bad?

A.	There could be a number of reasons ranging from the power switch not working correctly or the motherboard not recognizing the switch has been pressed to the power supply having problems to the motherboard itself having problems.
