Q. In my User Accounts folder, I have an account named "ASP.NET" and it is Password Protected. Since I never added this account and I am the only user of my laptop computer, can anyone tell me how this account got there?

Should I just delete the account?

Any advice is appreciated!

A.What I wrote about WinXP HE can apply to Vista also if it is the Home Basic or Home Premium version. What I wrote about WinXP Pro applies to Vista Business and Ultimate, maybe even to WinXP MCE.

Just a guess, but I would say that Dell installed it on the computer before you bought, it.

A.Hi Berton,
I just realized I posted my question with the info from my desktop. I'm sorry....It's my laptop with Windows Vista that has the ASP.Net User Account. Do you think I should delete the account? Where do you think it came from?

A.I've deleted it without harmful effects but I did log into Safe Mode as Administrator to do it. WinXP Home Edition usually doesn't automatically set a password for Administrator if that is what is installed on your Notebook/Laptop but WinXP Pro Administrator such as on your Desktop usually does have a password.
