The QV-7000SX features a vibrant 2.5-inch built-in liquid crystal display (LCD); manual, macro, and automatic focus with a focus lock; and a 32mm moderate wide angle lens. The lens has a 2X optical zoom and an 8X digital zoom. It rotates up to 90 degrees toward the front and 180 degrees toward the back to change the angle of the lens without moving the rest of the camera. The built-in flash has options for automatic red-eye reduction and fill-in for softening shadows. The camera can take photos in a variety of modes, with settings for Black and White, Sports, Night Scene, and Sepia, which gives an antique cast to pictures. There are also controls for Past Shooting, which captures up to 12.8 seconds of MiniMovie before you push the shutter button; Future Movie, which captures 12.8 seconds of images after you push the shutter button; and Continuous Shooting, which captures images one second apart when you hold down the shutter. The camera provides four storage capacity settings. You can store 14 images in Super Fine mode, 19 in Fine, 33 in Normal, or 55 in Economy. We evaluated the camera by installing the accompanying software on our PC and shooting pictures and MiniMovies in varied lighting. The software directions were minimal, and it was difficult to tell whether all the software was installed as needed. The camera rendered good colors, and images appeared instantly on the LCD after we pressed the shutter button. If you're searching for a camera with all the extras, and great pictures, consider Casio's QV-7000SX. by Buffy Cranford-Petelle Casio QV-7000SX $599 Casio Inc.
