Solution: If your PC is connected to a network and WinMe thinks you are still using a network resource (such as a shared drive, folder, or printer), WinMe may not let your computer enter into Standby or Hibernate mode. The solution to this problem is to close all open network connections and attempt to put the computer in Standby or Hibernate mode. To get into Standby Mode or hibernation, access the Start Menu, click Control Panel and double click Power Schemes. For each scheme below the Power Schemes tab, use the drop-down menus to choose time settings to automatically put the computer into Standby and Hibernate modes. You can also set the hard drives and monitors to turn off after a set amount of time. If this doesn’t work, your network adapter may need an updated driver. Update your network adapter with the latest driver to solve the problem.
