FAQ:
Do I really need to give my new gaming PC all the space that its manual suggests, or can I just place it in my desk's opening like my current PC tower?
Answer:
Today's PCs can generate a lot of heat that must be pushed from the inside to the outside of their computer cases. Not only does that hot air need to be removed, but cooler "replacement" air also has to be drawn inside. When you stuff a PC into a tight or enclosed space, it cannot vent its heated air properly, and the replacement air drawn into the case usually winds up being the same heated air that was just exhausted. The end result is poor cooling and possibly the premature failure of your new PC. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations for chassis placement, and don't block the system's intake vents.
