Solution:
Content Advisor is an IE feature that serves as a rudimentary filter to let parents decide what kinds of Internet sites they want their children to access. Problems can arise, however, if the POL (policy) settings file for that feature is corrupted, in which case Content Advisor can prevent adults from accessing most Web content. Fortunately, the problem is relatively easy to fix; you need only create a new policy file.
The file is hidden unless you made previous settings changes to the contrary, so close IE, double-click My Computer, open the C: drive, the Windows folder, and finally the System folder. Open the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and select the View tab. Select the Show Hidden Files And Folders radio button and remove the check mark from the Hide Protected Operation System Files checkbox before clicking Apply. Click OK and look for a Ratings.pol file in the System folder you just opened. If you find it, right-click it, select Rename from the context menu, and change the name of the file to Ratings.old. Confirm any prompts that appear, relaunch IE, and a new, fixed Ratings.pol file is created automatically for you.
If you don't see a Ratings.pol file in your System folder, open IE, select Internet Options from the Tools menu, and click the Content tab. Now you can turn off Content Advisor by clicking the Disable button and following the prompts or click the Settings button to make the filtering more lax. In either case, you must know the password that you initially set to enable the Content Advisor feature.
