Solution: It is very likely the reader had installed AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) on his PC at some point, and then he had deleted the software manually or using Windows' Add /Remove Programs utility. In either case, many users on the Internet report that the error message referring to Xmlparse.dll, an integral component of AIM, pops up each time they boot their computers.
Normally, you would be able to track down a copy of Xmlparse.dll and place it in the System folder, but in this case doing so may generate yet another error message. The best way to resolve this problem is to go in and manually rip out every reference to AIM that's still lurking in the system. The easiest thing to do is download AIM from www.aim.com and reinstall the software because that can eventually make the problem disappear. Of course, you then have software on your system that you didn't want in the first place, so we'll also tell you how to remove all traces of AIM so Windows doesn't know it was ever there.
It's also fairly easy to get rid of the annoying error message without having to reinstall AIM. Save all open documents and close all open programs, then click Start, Run and type msconfig in the Open field. Click OK; when the System Configuration Utility appears, click the Startup tab and search through the list until you see an entry for AIM (it may be labeled AOL Instant Messenger). Remove the check from the box next to the name, click Apply, and close the System Configuration Utility. Reboot your computer when you're prompted to do so and the error message should be gone.
