Common Problem:
You are using an iMac G5 computer, and it unexpectedly loses power.
Solution:
The iMac G5 is a sight to behold, but its aesthetic brilliance comes with a weakness that doesn’t plague PCs as frequently. According to Apple, unexpected power loss may the result of a slightly improperly-seated power cord. This can happen if you’ve recently moved your iMac or if something has tugged on the power cord. You’ll be able to tell if the power cord has become unseated by checking to see if it sits flush with the back of your iMac case. If the trim ring appears slightly removed from the case, push it back into place until it sits flush.

In situations when your iMac continues to shut down unexpectedly and you suspect the power cord is to blame again, you can remove the trim ring to more firmly insert the power connector. Remove the power cord from the back of your iMac and gently pull the trim ring away from the power connector. Finish by reinserting the power connector.
