Common Problem:
You plug your JVC XA-HD500 into a USB 2.0 hub that’s connected to your PC and your PC doesn’t recognize the device.
Solution:
According to JVC, your computer might not recognize the XA-HD500 if you connect it to your PC through a USB 2.0 hub if the hub also has slower USB 1.1 devices connected to it. This is a problem with the XA-HD500’s firmware, and downloading a firmware upgrade from JVC’s Web site should fix the problem.

To do this, open a Web browser with an active Internet connection and go to the following URL: www.jvc.com/custrel/index.jsp. Click the XA-HD500 Firmware Upgrade link to download the firmware upgrade and the XA-HD500 Firmware Upgrade Instructions link to view the instructions for properly installing the firmware upgrade.

As a general word of caution, upgrading a device’s firmware is similar to editing your PC’s registry. Be absolutely certain you know how to perform the necessary steps before actually carrying them out. A botched firmware upgrade can irrevocably damage your hardware.
